I have no inspiration. What so ever. I can't remember the last time I felt so utterly uninspired. I'm in desperate need of a pick me up.
LUCKILY there are things like the ABSOLUTELYBRILLIANTEFFINGFANTASTICWORKOFGENIUSMASTERPIECE editorial from the December Vogue to keep the right side of my brain at least semi-conscious.
What makes this editorial all the more satisfying is the lovely, flawless, angel-faced Lily Cole, who I've really missed recently. It's like the fashion gods answered my prayers by giving Grace Coddington a revelation in the form of this spread. I always find Grace is at her best when she takes her inspiration from children's stories (read: 1 and 2...although Natalia Vodianova also might have something to do with it...)
Anyways...in summary:
Lily Cole + Grace Coddington + Annie Leibovitz = TRIFECTA OF PERFECTION.
Which makes me one happy blogger.

(The white things the choristers are wearing are called cottas. They are probably one of the first pieces of clothing I can remember being intrigued by. I remember my second grade self being fascinated with the huge sleeves...I fancied them very princess-like)
Grace Coddington is the only thing that keeps US Vogue alive for me. End of story.
And BONUS: Lady GaGa appearance! After seeing the Bad Romance video I'm feeling much more inclined to like her. She's weird and kind of insane...but I think I'm starting to love her.
Wish me luck on recovering my inspiration. I know it's in there, I just need to dig it back up from under all the piles of stress I've been managing lately. I start to do well in school and my ability to be creative dies...great.
What do you guys do when you're suffering a lack of inspiration??
I'm thinking I'm in need of a wardrobe clean-out.

amazing ed! really i'm just burned out completely from school and social snaffus, so hence wardrobe suffering
ReplyDeletewow!
ReplyDeleteOption 1: iPod. Banana. Jog. Twenty-two minutes.
ReplyDeleteOption 2: Sit on the sofa and eat tubs of Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie, ideally with a big, fat, glossy magazine, or a good old book, on my lap, otherwise I switch on the television and watch the weather report.
Option 3: Tumblr and cyber-wandering.
Option 4: Sleep.
Thanks for posting this editorial -- it is quite lovely. I haven't picked up a U.S. Vogue in years.
ReplyDeleteMy sis and I recently discovered your site and really enjoy your blog, so hopefully you'll find your inspiration again soon! - JoAnn
That's one gorgeous editorial!
ReplyDeleteHmm... when I'm severely lacking inspiration, usually looking through various blogs will help, or browsing through random pictures. Harry Potter and gazing outside will do the trick sometimes too! Good luck finding your inspiration!
Love That Editorial!!! <3
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm in need of inspiration I listen to my favorite music and look through some of my favorite magazines/read some of my favorite books. :)
I really can't wait to see The September Issue, I feel likeI would know a lot more about Vogue an more specificaly grace Coddington if I saw that. I agree though, I'm totally bored with all the jumping girls and lifeless editorials.
ReplyDeleteWhen I'm inspiration-less I travel the internet and collect pictures, I watch beautiful movies, I try to sleep more, I take walks with my camera and try to find inspiration in the little things, I drink herbal tea, and I listen to music :)
wow! this is a stunning ed. lily looks like a doll.
ReplyDeleteI just got my issue today and im so in love with this spread. Incredibly inspiring.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, i must have watched that gaga video 50 times. pumped that she's in the new vogue! and definitely agree about grace coddington.
